She's a middle age looking (who knows how old she really was, she looked around 50) women with purple hair. Does age matter when it comes to dying your hair certain colors? like could you be too old or too young?

Maybe I'm just weird because I like watching those paid programming/infomercials they show late at night. I really love the Time Life music collections (like The Soul Story and the Motown collection), The kitchen gadgets (I love cooking and eating lol), and the exercise machines. It looks like they're trying to make exercising fun by the looks of some of these machines, especially that Ab Circle.

I know most of us like to go shopping...but I LOVE SHOPPING!! I don't always have the money to go. I HATE window shopping, so that's a no no. There's a way to shop without leaving the house.

I was watching Fashion In Film yesterday, a documentary you can find on Starz on demand. It talked about how films influence fashion and vice versa. They showed how "The Pirates of the Caribbean" inspired a runway show by designer Jean Paul Gaultier and much more. It was a good documentary and it gave me an idea...you'll see soon!

Remember back in the day when people would get teased for wearing Payless shoes? (And that could still be happening now) Well times has changed because Payless is stepping their game up! I don't know if its because of their cute commercials or if they have new designers but their shoes are looking better than they ever have. I was never one to care about what people thought, (ok maybe through my awkward preteen years) I buy whatever I think is cute. It doesn't matter where it came from, I can find something cute in ANY store...k almost any store lol. Anyway I bought a pair of heels from Payless a couple months ago and they're pretty comfortable. Here's some shoes from the commercial that I thought were cute and they're all under $30. I think two of them are under $20.

I heard Permanent makeup has been around for a long time but the first time I ever heard about it was in High school. I think it was around 10th grade, I was being nosy and heard a girl in my class talking about getting her eyebrows tattooed on and I thought to myself...that is the stupidest thing I ever heard of! I have nothing against tattoos but the face is where I draw the line. From what I know there's permanent brows, eyeliner, beauty marks, lip color, lip liner...does our make up routine really take that long? And then the cost is crazy! At the nail salon I go to the cost for the permanent lip color is like $589! Not when lipstick cost like $12.

I was over at Beyonce's site when I came across this pic.

It's supposed to be for a new video or something but I just thought the dress was so pretty! I always liked maxi dresses but never had the guts to wear one because of my butt. The dress is long so you basically see the silhouette of your body so my butt is gonna be seriously sticking out. That's gonna cause too much unwanted attention lol, but this year I don't care. Randomness: Black musical movie weekend

Atleast that's what it should be called. I looked on the TV guide and its nothing but Black musical movies and documentaries coming on this weekend. Starting Saturday at 10:30am on channel thirteen "My Music: My Generation--The 60's" is coming on. it will be folk rock, r and b, and pop hits from the 60's, I'm gonna catch some of that because I know the Temptations and Motown has to be included. Then at 12pm on TvOne...

The Little Richard Story. I didn't even know there was a movie about Little Richard out, I saw it for the first time a couple of months ago and loved it! If you like Leon you will like this movie...you don't even have to like Little Richard lol. Leon is just entertainment. Also at 12pm on the Ovation channel, The Mile Davis Story is coming on. After that at 2pm there's a James Brown documentary type thing with concert footage and interviews called James Brown: The Man, The Music, and The Message. At 3pm on Ovation there will be a Thelonious Monk documentary and on TV one at the same time Unsung with The Clark Sisters and Phyllis Hyman. At 5:30 on TvOne...

The Five Heartbeats! Directed by and starring Robert Townsend. Its a movie about a fictional (although I heard/read it was loosely based on The Dells) music group and the Challenges they faced, like drugs and alcohol, member changes, crossing over and thing like that. Leon's in this one too. Then at 7pm on Ion/WPXN, a movie about the best group ever...

The Temptations! I saw this movie about a gazillion times lol. Its practically burned in my brain. This movie is about The Classic 5 era of The Temptations (The reason why Dennis and the later added Tempts aren't really focused on). This movie will take you on an emotional roller coaster lol.It will make you laugh, cry, sing, dance, pissed off, sad, etc. It's at the top of my fave list so make sure you catch it! (Leon's in this too, damn! he's just in all the music movies lol). Then at 8pm on TvOne , Saturday and Sunday...

The Jacksons: An American Dream! Another one of my favorites! This movie takes you through the rise of fame from the young Jackson 5 to the adult Jackson 5 and a little of the solo Micheal. It only focuses on the kids in the group so no info on Janet, Latoya, and the other kids. Who doesn't know about the Jacksons? so yall know what to expect. Sunday at 10pm on channel thirteen, Rock, Rhythm & Doo Wop is coming on. There's a bunch of people performing but I only know Little Richard lol. On Ovation channel Sunday is basically Jazz day. Everything jazz will be on that channel. OK...I'm done.

Yesterday I was watching Dirty Dancing (one of my fave movies, I had to see it over 100 times) and you know the scene where Johnny is trying to teach Baby the steps and she keeps messing up? (During the "Hungry Eyes" montage) I just noticed how cute simple is. Usually when I'm looking for sneakers I notice the ones with all the crazy colors and cute designs but now I think I want a pair of "Skippys".

Laugh if you want they are so cute and simple looking and I don't even have to worry about matching. I found a pair at Urban outfitters:

And they're only $18.00. From watching the movie its obvious that she's wearing Keds because of the blue logo on the back (not seen in the pic) but I went to the site and they look different...to me.

And they're $35.00, but they do look more *looking for the right word* durable? lol because I could wear my shoes out and fast. With that being said now I'm not even sure if I want white anymore...I'll make up my mind later.

Randomness: Pigeons and Squirrels

Do you remember these little animals that use to run from us when we threw stuff at them or even got close to them?

Well things changed...they're not scared No More! Now when you step to birds they step right back at you l0l.Now when they fly make sure you watch your head. One day me and my friend was walking and a bird almost knocked her in the head and when I say knocked her in the head I mean like almost took her head off haha. Same with the squirrels...they're taking over the world! One day me and my sisters were walking home and there was this squirrel at the end of the block. It started running toward us and we started screaming, I actually ran across the street lol. Awhile ago my mom got jacked for her cookies by a squirrel. He ran up to her and she screamed and dropped the pack of cookies...he ran off with them!

American Idol

I know this doesn't really have anything to do with fashion but does anybody watch American Idol anymore? For me it's like ANTM now, there were too many seasons and did anybody really become America's top model? No...just like nobody really became the American Idol. I will admit that I always watch the auditions because PEOPLE ARE FUNNY! I love the people who you know, I know, and they know can't sing but leaves the audition room crying. It sounds mean but I know some of those people know they can't sing and just want to be on TV. One of my friends said they were gonna "fake audition" but never did. I wanted to but I don't have the guts. I know I can't sing but Simon would go IN on me lol.

Here's and old funny audition: yea the guy can't sing but to me the funniest part is how hard Paula and Randy were laughing. The sad part is that the guy looked sad/confused...really? He don't know why they're laughing?

Back to AM now, what about the girl who came in wearing the bikini? She said she wore it to be different. If your gonna be different, you might wanna actually BE DIFFERENT! We already have a Megan (ILM and ROL) we don't really need another. How is she gonna talk crap about the person that has to judge her? Yea...that was smart. Then there was the guy with the really deep voice sounding like Melvin from The Temptations (it didn't look like it fit him but I'm not saying its fake).There's more but this post would be too long and sadly I don't remember any of the good auditions. I will be watching for more laughs tomorrow :)

Here's a list of things I do not want to see in '09:

Arab Scarf (At least that's what I hear people calling them):

Everybody wears these and I do mean EVERYBODY. You see moms, kids, dads, grandmas, dogs, cats, wearing them. They sell them for $5 bucks downtown and I guess people got crazy. Flyy Girl has a friend who has one in every color. It's '09...Burn em!

Mixed seasonal clothing:

I can no longer look out the window and see what the weather is like because the clothes don't make sense. I am so tired of seeing boots and scarves during the summer and flats during the winter. One day I actually saw a lady wearing flats...IN THE SNOW! I love flats too but not that much. The other day Yung D told me her friend wore a cute dress with leggins and flats. Nothings wrong with that except for the fact that it is winter and it was about 30 degrees outside...spring and summer will be here soon enough.

Two tone hair: This year was crazy in hair colors. I've seen everything. Blue, yellow, pink, orange, white, red, and sometimes all of that on one head. Some people did it right but most people did it wrong. The peek-a-boo hair color got annoying and fast especially in my high school. You know how people would look normal until they flipped their hair or something and you see some strange color like orange or blue in the back. Then the bang color (see pic below)

So yea I colored on pics of myself but yall get the point.

Boys and skinny jeans: When I see a boy wearing jeans that are tighter then mine it makes me wonder. WTF? Now boys have donks bigger than some girls because the jeans are so tight. But fitted jeans are ok. My question to you is: Are these girls or boys?
Ha ha you don't even know do you? You can't tell by looking anymore.

I was thinking that I want to start posting a throwback video/song every Friday on Rhythm and Shoes. With some of the music we have now...I need a blast from the past sometimes. This Friday it's gonna be Ain't too proud to beg by The Temptations (you'll see them alot). For the last week VH1 Classic had a Temptations marathon (not sure why but I'm not complaining) and I already liked them but I'm just in a serious Temptation mood right now, it's all I've been listening to for the past couple of weeks. If you haven't seen the movie make sure you do. Some people argue that the movie isn't really true or that some facts are wrong but it's still a great movie. You don't even have to like the Temps to like the movie. My favorite Temp is Paul but I like Eddie too.

Remember Rugrats? To me it was one of the best shows on Nickelodeon.

Then after Rugrats they had All Grown up with the kids in high school. Just a couple days ago I saw a new show: Preschool Daze. It's during the time when Angelica and Susie were preschoolers. I thought it was weird that they would go back in time after making them grow up already. The show looks weird but they seem to have the same people who did the voices before. Here's a clip:

If you watch "The Hills" you probably already know that Whitney is getting her own show called "The City". It will be following her life as she moves to New York to work in the fashion industry of course. I heard something about Diane Von Furstenberg but I'm not completely sure. Is anybody else surprised? I always liked Whitney but I can't really picture her leading a show alone. I would've bet money on Heidi and Spencer getting their own show first.

If you've been here on the regular you should know I'm completely obsessed with eyebrows (I wish I had Bey's right one...its arched so perfectly). I think eyebrows can completely change your face. I'm sure yall saw this pic of Raven:

I call those Olivia eyebrows because that's exactly how they looked when she was young and on the Cosby show. I also have a friend who has eyebrows like that. He thinks he would look so much better if that extra piece at the top wasn't there. Everybody got on her for this pic but she probably just missed an appointment at the salon. Much better right? I've been getting my eyebrows waxed for a while. My mom never wanted me to get them done but I was so tired of my oval shaped eyebrows After a while I just went ahead and did it. Here a before and after:

Before: They were all messy and weird looking. Not sure if you can see the oval-ness but they were.

After: This is an older pic but they're neater and actually have a shape now. Sadly I don't have much of an arch but I try.

I always go all off topic but whose blog is this anyway? My question was: Are you a threader or waxer? At first I thought the idea of Threading was just a waste of time but someone put me on and I might actually give it a try. It's more sanitary (who knows whats been in the wax. I'm sure yall heard the stories about herpes and stuff and I'd be extra tight if something like that happened to me) less painful and you don't get those ugly red bumps like after waxing. If you live in Brooklyn or Manhattan...hook me up lol If you know of a place that does quality waxing and threading let me know. I've been seeing alot of Kira Plastinina lately (in mags) so I was in Soho last week and my aunt told me she had a store over there I had to check it out. I don't know how known she is but for those of you who don't know she's a Russian fashion designer and she's only---wait for it---16 years old. Her father is a millionaire and he basically bought her a fashion empire...Its a long story and you can read all about it here. From the stuff I saw in the mags I already thought her stuff was cute and the store proved the same. I'm tight that the pics are not showing and I can't even upload them on here. For the curvy girls...They stop at a large in shirts and a 30 in jeans from what I see. I could fit the tops but I won't even try to squeeze into the pants haha. Black Friday Hell

Did yall hear about the guy who was trampled to death at Wal-Mart today? It happened in Valley Stream NY around 5am. Basically the customers broke down the door, killed a guy, injured some people (including a pregnant women), and then got mad when the store officials wanted to close the store because of the death. I've never been to Wal-Mart (can't even tell you where one is) but aren't the prices already low? How low can the prices get? A shirt was probably $10 and since its Black Friday there's a whole bunch of sales and deals so now the shirt is like $5...It was already cheap at $10, Is It really that serious? Then people had the nerve to line up outside the store for when/if it would reopen...I can't.

My Black Friday Experience
At first I was really ready to go shopping but after coming from my Grandma's (for Thanksgiving) yesterday I was drained. I got up around 1pm by accident haha. I thought it was kinda late to go shopping so I decided not to. Then my aunt calls and asks me if I (and my sisters) would go with her to Soho so we went. When I say it was packed, I really had to look at it as a football field. People were pushing and shoving so much so I had to pretend to be a football player today.

Since it was like a blitz out there, being the quarterback I had to tackle a couple people or I probably would've got sacked (get up on your football terms people lol) We went to a bunch of stores but in the end I didn't get anything and mostly because lines were crazy long. The lesson I learned today was never go shopping on Black Friday. If you ever catch me shopping on Black Friday it will be on Aim because I'll be doing it online! :)

Hey everybody! Thanksgiving is tomorrow and you know what that means? I'm gaining like ten pounds lol (at my Grandma's). Then after that Its Black Friday and stores are going to be packed. I know somebody who is going to Jersey at 12am for some serious sale. I'm all for sales but that cant be me. For now enjoy one of my favorite Thanksgiving episodes because I'll be too busy eating hahaha.

For all the Degrassi watchers, yall remember Jimmy from season 1 right? didn't he just get cuter as the seasons went by? I remember when Jimmy looked like this:

Jimmy was the only black male student on the show so I was mostly drawn to him. I stopped watching Degrassi after awhile. You know how Degrassi's tag line is "It goes there"? well it went to far. It used to be a show about real teens with real problems but they took it too far. Everybody on that show has too many problems. Well I'm going off topic but now Jimmy looks like this:

I watch anything involving fashion so when I saw that Keke Palmer was starring in a new show (True Jackson VP)...

I was kinda excited especially since That's so Raven is over. Plus I love Keke as an actress and sometimes as a singer.

The show is about a 15 year old girl who gets to live out her dream by becoming the vice president of youth apparel in a big fashion company. In the first episode her and her friends figure that working at the company is just like attending high school (like people in cliques, tests, and homework) I saw the pilot episode and it can be a good show. Keke's great but her friends are too stupid. In the pilot, Keke fires her adult assistant and hires her best friend Lulu...bad move.

The girl really stopped to play with shades and a refrigerator. Then her other friend Ryan (and wtf is ridonculous?) pops up out of nowhere and was just chillin in her office. I don't know but I'm not feeling them, Chelsea was stupid too (in That's so Raven) but she was stupid and funny, they're just annoying. I do like the receptionist though, he's funny. I might be the only one out of the people I know who watched it lol but if you caught an episode, tell me what you think about it in a comment.

Yall know Victoria Secret comes out with a fantasy bra each year and this year its the Black Diamond fantasy miracle bra. It has like 3,000 black diamonds, 30 rubies, and 4,000 gems. It cost $5,000,000.

Not really though. Rihanna was recently spotted leaving some airport and I thought she looked good until I saw the sandals. There's nothing really wrong with them except that they look weird with those jeans...it would've been better with skinnies. If you like the sandals Baby phat has a similar pair for $50.

Colored tights: Hot or Not?

I have mixed feelings about this one. I think colored tights can be cute but I rarely see it done right. I own a pair but haven't worn them yet because it's hard. You could end up looking extra cute or like a straight up hot mess.

This post is a couple weeks late because I don't really see it anymore since its getting colder now. Anyway, my question is: Why do people wear scarves with only a t-shirt?

I know lil Wayne did it (I'm not saying he was the 1st) and he's an extreme trendsetter (I bet there's a bunch of people getting lip rings right now) but why? When I wear a scarf its usually because it's cold outside and I don't want to get sick. A couple weeks ago (when it was warm) I saw people wearing t-shirts with scarves around their necks. Is it because you only feel the wind on your neck? I just don't get it.

If you missed the season finale of Making the band last night you might want to know that Danity Kane has made some major changes to the group. Aubrey and D woods are officially out of Danity Kane. They had alot of problems "off camera" that we didn't know about. There were trust and priority issues. Sometimes members would miss appearances because they had other projects going on, which isn't really fair to the group. This raises alot of questions (for me) that were left unanswered last night. Will they add new members? Will the remaining members quit Danity Kane and try it solo? Will they ever get back together? Who knows!

Vanangela gets their own show

Vanessa and Angela gets their own show called "Daddy's girls". The show will focus on Vanessa's acting career and Angela's new career in music. Of course they'll be working on Pastry too. If you know me you know I love them and I can't wait. The show will premiere in January 2009. I wonder if "Run's house" will continue? Guess we'll have to wait and see!

It's only October 1st and things are starting to scare me already...

hahahah! just kidding but he does creep me out a little. I usually hate October because everything scares me. Then there's the egg throwing, scary little kids, TP'in, and a bunch of other annoying things. Last year a guy dressed up as Michael Myers (Halloween) and stood at the bus stop. The worst part is that we were waiting for the same bus! Some of the people who walked by either laughed, looked nervous or started speed walking. You know what really got to me? It wasn't even Halloween yet. When I think back on it, it was kinda funny but not while it was happening. Halloween's not my favorite "holiday" but I do like scary movies/tvshows. At the end of each post during the month of October we will post a "scary" Halloween themed thing we think you should check out. Hopefully things won't be too scary this year. For now...Enjoy.

Speaking of Dakota, The Secret life Of Bees is coming out October 17th. The cast includes: Dakota Fanning, Queen Latifah, Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys, and Tristan Wilds (Michael from "The Wire", I miss it so much!).
